WHOA! That is insane, right? Looking back over the past year, we have been very very fortunate to get to do the things we do. We have been involved on some amazing projects and have gotten the opportunity to work with some of the best people around. 2011 was one that we will not soon forget.

But before we turn the page to 2012, we thought we’d get our Top 10 season underway…

We have our annual lists of Top 10 albums from all of our staff, as well as some of the bands on the Chop Shop Record label in the coming days/weeks, but first we thought we’d kick it off with an old Chop Shop Blog favorite: Who We Are!

If you are familiar with this Blog, you know that every so often everyone on staff at Chop Shop compiles a small list of things they are digging on at the moment in our Who We Are section. This is essentially your chance to stalk us. Plus, it’s a perfect way for our friends and family members (& Santa if you are reading this) to know what to get us for Christmas!

We are just a a rag tag group in the depths of South Pasadena listening to a bunch of songs and putting some of them on TV and film projects we work on. It’s not a bad deal. Pretty fun actually.

But we don’t just listen to music…we are much deeper than that. Well, maybe that’s a little bit of a stretch, but just go with it. Every so often we like to let you all know what stuff we are into at the moment, and now is one of those times.

Sleeping At Last – “Wilderness”

I love love love this band! If you don’t know them, you need to check it out. Last year they started a project called Yearbook, which is a collection of 3 song EP’s released every month for a year. Quite an undertaking, but they are all amazing. When I got the July EP, this track stood out to me as one of the strongest of the entire project so far. I’m honestly going to be so sad when it is over.

U.S. Royalty – “Equestrian”

Four on the floor! This song is in heavy rotation in my world right now. It’s one of those songs that you can workout to, vacuum your house to, have on during dinner, or just sing at the top of your lungs when no one is around. Love it.

Radiohead – “Lotus Flower”

On the day that Radiohead releases a new album there are really no other contestants for a song of the day, right? This song is genius and the video is insane. I think I need to watch a few more times so next time I go dancing I can bust out my Thom Yorke moves.
