But before we turn the page to 2012, we thought we’d get our Top 10 season underway…

We have our annual lists of Top 10 albums from all of our staff, as well as some of the bands on the Chop Shop Record label in the coming days/weeks, but first we thought we’d kick it off with an old Chop Shop Blog favorite: Who We Are!

If you are familiar with this Blog, you know that every so often everyone on staff at Chop Shop compiles a small list of things they are digging on at the moment in our Who We Are section. This is essentially your chance to stalk us. Plus, it’s a perfect way for our friends and family members (& Santa if you are reading this) to know what to get us for Christmas!

But we don’t just listen to music…we are much deeper than that. Well, maybe that’s a little bit of a stretch, but just go with it. Every so often we like to let you all know what stuff we are into at the moment, and now is one of those times.

The Nervous Wreckords – “Everything Stops For Tea (ft. Anya Marina)”

This video is amazing! The Nervous Wreckords is Brian Karscig, who you might recognize from Louis XIV, and the lovely blond he is throwing cake at in the video is our very own Anya Marina. What you may not know is that Brian produced Anya Marina’s Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II and played guitar in Anya’s band on select dates last year. I guess this is her way of paying him back? Looks like fun. I want some cake.

The event is being held at Ghettogloss in Hollywood and is FREE!! Doors open at 8:30pm and Nico will be playing a full set with his band later in the night. If you are looking for an alternative to college football tomorrow and want to experience some good music and a unique experience in downtown LA, you should check out the final installment of the Plays Well With Others Rooftop Sunset Series. Plays Well With Others is an organization that pairs music and social causes to create positive change in the world. For this event, they are teaming with three fantastic causes – Tiny Stars, Falling Whistles, and Awaken.

Our good friends Vienne and Deerheart will be performing, so don’t miss out. See you there!

The Pablove Foundation is named after Pablo Castelaz, the six-year-old son of Dangerbird Records co-founder Jeff Castelaz and his wife Jo Ann Thrailkill. On May 17, 2008, Pablo was diagnosed with bilateral Wilms’ Tumor, a rare form of children’s cancer. Pablo fought courageously and lost his battle with cancer on June 27, 2009.

In their fight to raise money and awareness about childhood cancer, Jeff will be biking across country with a friend. Pablove Across America starts on October 10th and they are taking donations now.
