A friend of mine turned me on to this South London band a few weeks ago, and I have been devouring every song of theirs I can find since then.  Bastille was originally just the name lead singer Dan Smith went by for his solo work, but Bastille has since then grown into a full blown band.  ”Overjoyed” is a perfect example of their soaring melodies; kept afloat by Dan’s warm and charming voice.

The Good News:  The Republic Tigers are putting the final touches on their sophomore album out in Kansas City as we speak (or as I type?)!!  Check out the video clip, posted by lead singer Kenn Jankowski, of them in the studio with Paul Malinowski for a little sample of the awesomeness that is to come.

The Bad News: we have to wait just a little bit longer to hear the rest of it. Sad face.

Kathleen Edwards – “Soft Place To Land”

Spicing things up a bit in here with a joint song of the day!!

Kasey and I had the pleasure of seeing the amazing singer/songwriter, Kathleen Edwards this week at the El Rey (as so wonderfully illustrated by the instagram shot above). There were several high points to the amazing show, but one that stuck out to both of us was the song, “Soft Place To Land”. Check it out below to see for yourself…

South By Southwest 2012 has ended but I’m sure most attendees (us included) are still working their way back to full strength following a long few days of music, friends, clubs, walking, and possibly a few drinks. We had a great time in Austin doing all of the above, as well as putting on our Official SXSW Showcase at Maggie Mae’s and watching Milo Greene play all over Austin. Huge thanks to Family Of The Year, We Are Augustines, The Features, Hellogoodbye, Milo Greene, and The Gossip for playing our showcase.

Overall, SXSW2012 was a huge success and we can’t wait to do it all over again next year. Too soon?
